My 71' was built in December 70', and had the 44.............not sure what month they started.............or did they use up all the 30's first and then switch on some random date?

Just checked, it's a D30. Oh well, now I need to find a nice D44. This D30 does have the disk brake conversion if anyone is interested (Chevy I believe)?

The disk conversion from the 30 should work on a 44 as well.

How did you positively ID it being a 30? Reason I ask is some very early 70 or 71's....can't remember right now..... had a D44 with kingpin knuckles. So if you looked only at the knuckle connection type, you may have a early 44 with kingpin knuckles.

No such luck, appears to be a really dirty Dana 30 w/disks.
