Bronco cut out on me and clicked then kept going

I just taped up a lot of wires that were in terrible shape and drove it around the block for a bout 15 minutes and it ran great.

Yep. Ruining the original 302 motor.

If all else was good before replacing the fuel pump....I would say you got a bum new fuel pump. Since it was made in China...it should not be surprising.

taped up some wires that had lost a lot of their rubber coating. Think that was the problem.

Be a good idea to change your fuel filter too.
It's only a couple of bucks and you can cross that off your list of potential issues.
