Its happened a few times and I am just tryin to track the issue down. The first time I was driving downhill, I put in the clutch...dead, No stumble, no hesitation just off. I had been driving it about 15 minutes all downhill at the time. Today same thing, except it died rolling up to a light, clutch put in, dead. I had been driving about 45 minutes mixed conditions at the time.

Both times it fired right back up like it had been shut off with the key. No problems the rest of the ride home.

Fuel filter is full and mostly clear, coil is newish MSD BII, wires new, plugs new no shorts that I can find. Since its a 77 bronco I am thinking...ignition module?

i second the ignition module. then possible fuel problems. if it only happened going down hill might be something with the fuel pickup.

Yeah, I'd go with the Ignition module. Even my MSD box did the same exact thing after a year (same thing you are describing), but they replaced it. It was embarassing, b/c it did in the McDonalds drive through, and at a stop light. It got progressivley worse over time though; it got to the point that I had to just sit there and wait for like 10 min before it would just fire up. :'(

Yeah I have been digging in the search and I think I will be replacing the ignition module tomorrow. I love the search, I probably spend 3x more in the search than all other areas of the forum combined.

I loved this quote from Bert
If you have ever run out of gas while driving then that is what most fuel problems feel like. Electrical problems usually feel like some one just turned off the key. Fuel problems (lack of) usually take a little longer cranking time to restart. Electrical problems can restart almost instantly.

Also a check of the ignition switch might be in order. I had a 4x4 Ford van once that would die like that just out of the blue. After replacing the stock ignition module I started checking other things and noticed that the stereo quit at the same time it would die. Found the ignition switch was bad. Just a thought.

I have had this happen a couple of times. Once the wire was broken internally between the dist and coil, the other time it was gunk in the gas tank. The stuff would cover the pick up and then when the car would die it would float off and work fine.
