My latest radio toy. Again, not Ham but a GMRS repeater for local coverage (about 25 miles I'm hoping).
I have an antenna for it but still need to get the feed line.

The thing I like about GMRS is that I can have my whole family on one call sign vs. Ham each person needs a call sign.

Nice score Ken. Best of both worlds.

Yup, now if I can just save up some cash for the feed line.

The repeater was free. I had to get a duplexer for it though but I'm still ahead of the game.

How much do you think you need? I think I have about 100' or so. Abit older cable but I always bought the good stuff I think it's RG58A/U but can check. Has one S0-239 connector and I'm sure I have another one to put on if you want it.

Hey Dave, thanks! I'll have to ask my radio guru if that will work. He was pretty specific in telling me to get only LMR400 cable. I'm not up on coax types.

Yes Ken he is correct. The LMR is a very low loss cable best for VHF/UHF but really benefits when needing long lengths. If you only need 50' or under the 58's attenuation isin't bad at those freq.. Antenna gain (if any) will usually more than make up for any nominal cable loss. As with any cable depending on manufacturer, you get what you pay for.
Still yours if decide
Regards.

I need 75' at the least. 100' would place the repeater where I'd really like it to be. Less of a chance for people to mess with it. Plus it's going to be a PITA to run it up through the attic so only doing it once would be good.

Thanks for the offer though. If I put a base at the house I'll let you know. ;D

I just passed my Technician test and am waiting on my call sign.

Do any of y'all have D-Star set ups in your Broncos?
