Hi, just got a Bronco with a motor I was told was locked up, blown. Put.the truck in park but was surprised the truck still rolled easily when pushed. Transfer case is in gear, it has a lot of resistance when put in drive, made sure it was fully in park and it still rolls. Is this normal or c4 is gone too?

99% the transfer case is in neutral. So common and mis-diagnosed as a bad transmission. Many a C4 have been rebuilt due to a transfer case not really in gear.

Without the engine running there is no connection between the engine and the tires.
When it rolls, do the driveshaft(s) spin? If not, blown diff.

The shifter does nothing for engaging gears in the transmission without the engine running. Engine must run for the pump to make pressure for the clutches to engage. The only mechanical thing the shifter controls is the linkage for the parking pawl. The rest is just hydraulic valves.

If your transfer case is certain to be in gear, then the park brake pawl is not engaging. You can check this by fully moving the shift linkage at the trans case (loosen or disconnect the linkage from the column) towards the engine side. If that is fully stroked and it still rolls, then drop the trans pan and look inside to see if your pawl linkage is damaged or installed wrong. You have to take off the valve body to clearly see its function/engagement inside the trans.

Engage your front hub locks. Jack up front or rear tires off ground. Turn tires that are off ground, if they turn and If you think you have transfer case in a 4 wheel drive gear, this should prove that the transfer case is in gear.
Otherwise the park position is out of adjustment or parking paw is not operational.

Thanks for the help , will check it out today. I was just doing the pushing but an experienced person was driving. I'll have to play with the transfer case today to start.
