I have installed a 1977 c4 in my 1967 project. The modulator is loose and bent and needs to be replaces. I understand there severial options. something about color bands. What is recomended. for my mildly camed four barrel 289?

factory you are looking for a green stripe. if you have an unmolested Bronco transmission it uses a push in modulator. held in by a metal clip if its a non Bronco swapped in it may be a screw in modulator. if the original Bronco trans came from a motor with egr 1974/1975 it will have a 2 port vacuum modulator and the others will have a single port. there is also a red stripe and a green and a yellow stripe modulator stripes are OK but most good modulators have an adjustment screw inside the vacuum port where the bigger hose hooks up. remember that their is a small pin resting in the transmission side of the modulator. you must use this pin it normally follows the modulator when you remove it and tranny fluid runs down your arm into your armpit. make sure you have a catch pan.

I also have a mildly cammed 4 bbl 289 and put in a green stripe that works great... has about 25,000 miles on it so far.
