Greetings All,
I need a little help. I am getting ready to install and Atlas II to my C4. I went ahead and bought the cable shifters because I have heard that helps with a lot of problems with shifting and where the shifters sit. I would love some pictures of others installs and any advice of things to avoid. The rig has a 2 inch body lift and the TBP Extended radius arms so notching the frame is not really something I can do. I saw that someone took out the factory cross member mount and installed a TMR kit mount..Wondering if that is a good thing to do also. Again...pictures are a big help for me. I am more of a pictures kinda guy..LOL.
Thanks in advance and I will be posting my pic's as the build goes on.
Thanks!

I modified the stock cross member. I don’t remember if I stole this idea or not so can’t take credit for it. Super easy.
Also, another trick to get it clocked up a little tighter. You can take the nuts of the motor mounts, jack the motor up just a little bit on each side, and die grind the slots out so that you can rotate the motor just a hair out of square. It’s so minute that nothing will ever know. Just a little up front can gain you an inch all the way back at the T case and give you that room to clock it. You’ll grind the front of one mount and the rear of the other. I used a ratchet strap to pull the tail over so I could make minor pulls on it.
I also use cave shifters. There is a definite sweet spot in them shifting so take extra time adjusting them.

Oh yea... I also have a crossmember in the very rear. It may be the TMR style you mentioned that clamps to the trail shaft housing. It's just welded to a piece of straight tubing that spans from inside of each frame rail. I can get pics tonight of that if I can't find some on my phone.

I just got thru installing an atlas in my 71. The install is pretty easy, and the 2'' body lift will help a bunch. My problem came with the shifter install , but I am running a different trans (4r70w). Plus I was not using the cable shift. Funny thing is with the different trans I had more room than you will have for the shifter. I dont think the cable shift would of worked all that we'll for me because of the room the cables take up and how they have to be routed. With your c4 there will be even less room to run the cables so I will be interested in hearing about your install. I used the twin stick non cable shifter that came with the atlas. I spent many hours making changes to every part of that shifter. When I was finished I was happy with it and it works as it should. I hope you have less troubles with the cables. I also made a new transmission mount and a transfer case support pad. The pad looks like a mount but it is not bolted to the atlas.
Pictures when you are done.
