Any suggestions on a new Torque Convertor. Stock 302. It looks like the stock replacement would be a Dacco F48 ($75.00). I see Toms sells one also ($160.00) Its obviously more expensive than the stock selection. Any experience with either of these? I'm assuming the Dacco is stock stall speed.

No experience with those converters but experience with the flywheel. Early 1973 and 1974 Broncos had a different flywheel pattern. This is made of unobtanium, so if you have a 73 or 74 small pattern flywheel you have to change the flywheel too in order to match your new converter. Of course after all these years who knows what is actually sitting under your bellhousing. I doubt there are any original automatic Broncos running with an unrebuilt transmission. So parts may have been swapped already.

The '77 shop manual lists the OE Bronco torque converter as 1350-1630 RPM stall speed. So it would seem that the one from Tom's has a lower than stock stall speed. I know the stock converter works well with either a 302 or 351 and a lower stall speed converter may not.

I should have noted that mine is a 76'. I don't think this thing has ever been out. I will know by the weekend.
