you would think landuse/closures would merit more attention! Kinda screwed up
I don't know where to start on this one and I hope that folks will understand instead of hating or consternating.
Let me just say that I feel that you are a little more passionate about the subject than most people and you were expecting quicker results from your post but don't condemn folks because they missed the original post and stumbled upon this one. I never saw your other post because I wasn't looking for it but I am glad I ended up at the same place regardless of how I arrived. I personally want to thank anyone who takes the time to share land closure topics with the rest of us and I have spent many years fighting for land use and OHV. I have fought with and been threatened by big government, for my involvement in writing legislation and trying to get access to public lands for off road use and for trying to open parks and trails in my state and to keep established recreational areas open across the country. Sadly , I must say, I have chosen not to be the voice. I passed that torch so that others can have a chance to help. I still participate whenever I can from the sidelines.
I don't know what the percentage of off road vs street broncos there are on this site but for those who wheel their rigs, I encourage you to join a local off road club and let your voices be heard. Most local clubs are members of regional and national organizations that keep their memberships informed and involved with the issues and carry a much larger voice to be heard by the government. Organizations like Iowa Association of 4 Wheel Drive Clubs and Mid West 4 Wheel Drive Association as well as United 4 Wheel Drive Association and The Blue Ribbon Coalition are very current on the latest issues and very helpful and informative.
If you have read this post and say to yourself that you would never go to Moab to wheel so it really doesn't effect you. You are very wrong ! If the government ( local, county, state or federal ) has the power to do something on a scale that large, think of how quickly a smaller venue with less notoriety would be lost ... It can and has happened almost overnight.
There are millions of acres of formerly public land, that have been taken back by the government and closed to the public. That means that you and I can not even walk on that land much less ride a bike or drive on it.
OK ... sorry for the rant ...
I'll let somebody else talk for a while ... but I am WaTcHiNg YoU
