Some interesting observations- I posted the thread about the potential landuse problems for Moab and surrounding areas(to say nothing about the bigger picture) yesterday morning about 715am est. Last night I checked CB before going to bed and no post about Cage service. This am the post showed up from overnight and imagine this 197 views from overnight (est perspective) and the Moab thread had 136 from ALL day yesterday. Wow, we are in a fight to keep our public lands and OHV areas open to enjoy our broncos after we build them but that appears not to matter. Put a vendor in the subject line and lots of people look. I agree Vendor service is important but you would think landuse/closures would merit more attention! Kinda screwed up :(

I assumed your thread title was referring to the same topic covered over at pirate4x4. I had already read the pirate thread and sent in my response to my local representative. I didn't feel it necessary to read your thread too. After checking your thread I assumed correctly. Also add the 70 views from the other thread that was started half a day after yours by smoked77.

You should think of it this way. The 136 views are 136 folks that send in their support.

edit: I decided to take the last sentence out.

You're right Karl!
And I'm guilty too! :(
Too much bitching, not enough doin'.

I guess if you want people to notice an important issue just put a vendor name (any name) in the subject line and follow that with the word "problem" or similar synonym and watch the views pile-up. But as alluded to in an earlier post, you want action type viewers and not soap-opera couch potato type's.

Unfortunately, that is the way society does things. We want others to fight our fights for us. Unless it has a direct affect to our current way of living or endangers us, then people take immediate action.

I feel the same way when I worked at a school of 6,000 students and only 20-40 parents would show up to the parent meetings. Keep up your fight.

A key differentiator between the US and foreign manufacturers is offering off-road capable vehicles (just ignore that cute FJ and Pathfinder).

There are 6 Michigan congressmen who support this bill. Their vote is essentially against their Big 3 consituents since it reduces lands not accessible, so it lowers demand for offroad vehicles. It also impacts our military ability to build strong vehicles that can go anywhere...

I saw your post, clicked, sent!

Thanks for the heads up. And yes, we need to be more involved with these issues. The next few years are going to be rough.

I don't know where to start on this one and I hope that folks will understand instead of hating or consternating.

Let me just say that I feel that you are a little more passionate about the subject than most people and you were expecting quicker results from your post but don't condemn folks because they missed the original post and stumbled upon this one. I never saw your other post because I wasn't looking for it but I am glad I ended up at the same place regardless of how I arrived. I personally want to thank anyone who takes the time to share land closure topics with the rest of us and I have spent many years fighting for land use and OHV. I have fought with and been threatened by big government, for my involvement in writing legislation and trying to get access to public lands for off road use and for trying to open parks and trails in my state and to keep established recreational areas open across the country. Sadly , I must say, I have chosen not to be the voice. I passed that torch so that others can have a chance to help. I still participate whenever I can from the sidelines.

I don't know what the percentage of off road vs street broncos there are on this site but for those who wheel their rigs, I encourage you to join a local off road club and let your voices be heard. Most local clubs are members of regional and national organizations that keep their memberships informed and involved with the issues and carry a much larger voice to be heard by the government. Organizations like Iowa Association of 4 Wheel Drive Clubs and Mid West 4 Wheel Drive Association as well as United 4 Wheel Drive Association and The Blue Ribbon Coalition are very current on the latest issues and very helpful and informative.

If you have read this post and say to yourself that you would never go to Moab to wheel so it really doesn't effect you. You are very wrong ! If the government ( local, county, state or federal ) has the power to do something on a scale that large, think of how quickly a smaller venue with less notoriety would be lost ... It can and has happened almost overnight.

There are millions of acres of formerly public land, that have been taken back by the government and closed to the public. That means that you and I can not even walk on that land much less ride a bike or drive on it.

OK ... sorry for the rant ...

I'll let somebody else talk for a while ... but I am WaTcHiNg YoU

By the way , I did send that letter to my representative and received a response already.

Thank you for your correspondence. I appreciate your input and enjoy hearing your comments. Each day, I receive hundreds of letters, emails, and phone calls, and while it may take a few weeks, I want to assure you that you will receive a detailed reply that accurately answers your letter, but please be patient. I will respond as quickly as possible.

Please do not reply to this email.

This is why a person must have patience and also be on top of the issues when they come up . If a bill is being pushed through, there is a chance that some of the representatives will not read your letter before they vote.

i got a reply from my Representitive as well. I replied with a personal one stating that i know i had sent a form generated letter but in my own writing, encouraged him to really read it and let it digest and then reminded him of my wishes as a voter. IF THEY DON'T KNOW HOW YOU FELL THEY VOTE HOW THE OTHERS WANT!
