Absolutely cool!!
What's your plans for the Bronco? Keep it stock and uncut?
I hope I'm able to attend one of the events you bring it to - I've never seen one up close and personal.

I'd like to see Nick (or anyone else for that matter) take a regular Bronco and make a 2009 version of the camper special - like the Earthroamer ( http://www.earthroamer.com ).

Think 3.5-5.5" lift, 35" tires and a bad-ass camper shell. That would be sick.

I was wondering if that thing ever sold. I see its add is still on craigslist. I am glad to see someone who respects it has it.

Fourwheel makes new top canvas, last time I talked to them about mine it was in the $800-1500 range. Not sure how yours are but I have been thinking about updating mine to the thicker stuff for winter camping. Everything else is simple carpentry. Start on the roof, they always leak, looks like the roof on the passenger side as i see a little mold on the canvas. It is VERY common on these.

I am on the third Bronco camper my family has had, second one I have owned personally. I want to mimic the earthroamer jeeps they are making with a bronco. I think though with that top 3.5 is about MAX you would want on an EB.
We should start a camper build thread, I have to beleive there are more than just 3 on this site between Andrew you and I?
I would like to see;
  1. Updated interior
  2. Autolight thermostat conversion
  3. DC/Propane Refer
  4. Updated side paneling
  5. Roof Rack
  6. Awning
  7. Exterior lighting
  8. Interior LED
  9. Update the windows

I dont think these are a good candidate for the roof AC, for one you would need a substantial generator to run it, and second I am not sure the roof or the end panels that support the roof when up would support it. Besides these things are for driving to the top of a mountain or waaaay back in the woods to camp. Space is limited but its a major step up from tent camping!

Excellent, I like it. I was thinking of building a camper top that fits in the bed and can be removed (with some work). That will have to wait for now.

here's a few more pics. was busy on customer projects today so no time to play with it.
i plan to hang onto this for sure, it's a very welcomed addition to our stable.

back up fuel pump, and i found the dist had been changed out to points. power invereter set up, no clue if it works. the wiring is a bit of a mystery on what the old guy rigged up.

Does the camper have enough room inside to be worth it or is it super cramped? My wife keeps saying e should find one of those, seems to me wouldn't be enough room. does it have a shower?

yes it actually does have a fair amount of roo. you really can sleep 4. it does not have a shower. no room for that. stove, sink & sm fridge and storage cubbies along with the table that indexes into the floor is pretty much it.

From about age 12 to 18 my dad had one that we camped and hunted in all over Colorado. We took him, my step mom, me my sister and two golden retrievers everywhere in that thing. That being said the people that sit in the back face sideways with little or no seat belt protection and even if they did you would be on a flat 2x3 piece of plywood that is sitting on the lower seat/bed structure. It can be done but the safety side of things for kids are definitely questionable.

Once up camping a close family of 4 could easily do it.

My second camper got to be in ROUGH condition and frankly being young not recognizing its value I gutted it and cut it up with a circular saw. Taking it off and apart you realize they would not last very well in a rollover or significant car crash.

I still don't know what other vehicle you can find with as much convenience that you can take a primitive trail up to treeline and camp comfortably in sub freezing conditions in? Like I said above I have a ton of fond memory's of our first one.
