Can a small intake leak impact engine performance

Can a small leak in the intake manifold affect engine performance? Changed intakes a little while back and think I have a small leak towards the front. See some oil seepage after I run it. It's been running pretty crappy since I did the swap but I assumed it was due to bad timing or carb related. Could the rough engine performance be cause by a small leak in the intake?

Even what seems to be a very small intake air leak will adversely affect the way the engine runs, especially at idle and low RPM.

What intake did you change to? If it was an Edelbrock, did you follow the directions on using strictly RTV for the front and rear mounting? I also used Indian Head gasket shellac on the side gaskets. So far, it's working perfectly.

Went from an aluminum edelbrock 4 brl back to a factory 2brl intake. Followed directions and torque specs down to the letter except for the front and back cork strips. Everything I read on those said to throw them away and use a thick strip of high heat RTV. It now cranks and idles fine now. When I drive it at highway speeds and give it some gas it feels and sounds like its not firing in all cylinders. It may be unrelated but thot I'd ask the masses.
