Can bad points mess up your spark plugs?

Just curious. When I got the '74 it ran rough. I put all new plugs and wires in and drove it for a few hundred miles over thje last few months. Still ran rough! I just put new points in yesterday...the old ones were pretty bad. It runs better now but still not as smooth as i'd like. Could the plugs have been effected by the bad points? Should I change the plugs again or would it not effected my plugs? Let me know.

Thanks Much,

I would probably just pull the plugs and clean/regap them. Also have you changed the distributor cap and rotor?
