whats the trick to getting the drag link off of the tie rod. i got it off of the pitman arm and got the nut off the back side of the tie rod, but i cant get it off of the tie rod. any pointers?
Double BFH method. I use a 5 lb hammer held tight to one side, then smack the other side with a 2 lb hammer. Usually after a smack or two, the rod end will drop right out. The idea is to just slightly deform, in this case, the tie-rod, where the drag link end is stuck into place.
Or there's always the pitman arm puller, or heat, or pickle fork, or whatever...
i've used a pickle fork or tie rod separator (looks like a smaller pitman arm puller) to put pressure on the joint, then one smack of the hammer shocks it loose.
