Can't you just unscrew the old body mount bolts?

If I hose the body mount bolts down with Kroil first, what are the chances they will unscrew? I can cut them off with the sawsall but would it be worthwhile to try a wrench first?

Most of mine came right out. The 2 under the front floor boards that rusted out, came out with the sawzall. However results will vary seems to be a Bronco disclaimer...

if the heads round off, weld a nut or a short bolt to them. the heat help as well. be sure to soak the threads exposed underneath mostly. that is what you need to try to get through the nut.

if all else fails, remove the head and deal wiht it when you get the body off.

here is what many look like once you work them out.

Using a 6 point socket may help. Like the other guys say if it breaks all is good. If not welding a nut or a sawzaw is the next step. I only broke 2. Have fun.

Geez, what's everybody talking about; the bolts are the easy part. It's getting the two halves of the OEM body mounts apart that can be real "challenging".

soak with PB blaster for a week, bolts came right out, 4 of six body mount halves came right out, two were a PITA as in I invented two new cuss words, the wife was impressed..

Wow, my bolts all came out with no problem. But all of the body mount halves were, well, one piece. No rust or anything here. But they sure were solidly stuck together. I am of the opinion that Sawzalls are for girly men. So I ate mine with ViseGrips one bite at a time until the lower halves were small enough to push through the holes in the frame mount. Well that and the fact that I don't have a Sawzall.

My Ingersoll Rand Thunder Gun with 600 ft lbs of torque in reverse made quick work of most of the body mount bolts on the two EBs I've taken the bodies off. They either came loose or snapped the heads off in a hurry. Either way that part was easy, the body mounts themselves are the real PITA. But don't worry, a torch makes quick work of those to. Kinda stinks in the shop for a while though....

>>> you might get lucky.....I was so worried about messy with body mounts after hearing all the stories that I put it off for way too long... in the end I didn't need fire, grinders or saws...... I just did the 1" wildhorses body lift & all the bolts came out really easy.....as mentioned above, the upper & lower body mount retainers will still be stuck together after the bolts are removed.....wildhorses says to drill through the mounts with a 1/2" drill bit after the bolts are removed to help them separate, but I didn't even have to do that...... for the front 4 mounts I just used a sheet metal unibit from the bottom & popped off the bottom part of the lower retainer .... for the 4 rear mounts I just screwed the bolts back in a little & gave them a wack with a mini sledge hammer.....after they broke loose I kept hammering the ones near the bumper & let the lower bushing retainer bend against little retainer tabs that hold them inside the frame......they slid right out after being bent into a U..... the bottom bushing retainers are different behind the seats & slide out easy after you lift the body & remove the upper bushing retainers.........

Funny stories here!
I like the Uni-Bit idea J. Gonna try that if I ever have to do it again. Which I hope I don't!
Mine came out pretty nice too. Well, all but two anyway. I did the BFH routine on the first 6. Unscrew the bolts part way, whack with hammer, remove. Nice.
At least for those first 6 anyway. Thought I'd screwed up my shoulder on the 7th one, but if finally relented. BBFH (bigger bfh) and longer swings.
Took another 35 weeks to get the last one out. Naturally, the one that needed the sawzall was the one just behind the drivers seat, where you can hardly get to it without removing everything else.

Anyway, as always, just give it a try first. Who knows? You might get lucky.

Took me a good, solid day:-[ to do mine. This was even after soaking them w/ penetrating oil for days beforehand. You will probably end up using a variety of tools(Sawzall,Channelock pliers,torch:-X,etc...). It sucks, but if you put antiseize on the bolts, next time around shouldn't be so bad.Pierr.

I just did mine today. put a WH 1 inch on there. all the bolts came out just fine. had to sawzall five of the m@ther effin mounts in half. what a bear !! Highly recommend a sawzall with a can of WD-40 to lube it up, and also put duct tape on the frame where the mounts go just under the passenger and driver seats so the new nuts dont fall into the frame and be lost forever !! HMM how did i know this . . . . ? %)

My bolts came out with out much issue ..Soaked with PB and then used the air wrench ...But then mine had issues with the bushing that would not come out ..I even set on on fire and tried to burn it out but it almost burned my Bronco down .. I neve got 2 of my bushings out so I put the one inch on top and I have 1 1/2 inch lift.

Bolts weren't the problem for me, it was the bushings stuck to the sleeves. Had to Tiger Saw (Porter Cable recipricating saw not Milwaukee sawsall;D) them in half to get them out.
