Which carburetor should I rebuild? The motor craft has a vacuum diaphragm on top and the autolite does not . The motor craft is a 1970 and the autolite is a 1968. The autolite just seems like a simpler build.

'68 Bronco 2100s are equipped with a manual choke. '70 2100s have a diaphragm type de-choker that replaced the piston type on earlier 2100s, that had automatic chokes. No real advantage to either type. Your decision is choosing between an auto or manual choke. Autolite and Motorcraft carbs are made in the same place by the same people. Ford just stopped using the name Autolite.

Rebuild

Leaning toward manual choke , going to rebuild both but cars I have had in past with the other choke have given me problems. Thanks for the information.

Pertty much zero differance in rebuilding either one they are the same carb just different choke pull off. They will even use the same rebuild kit.
Whart I would look at is the size of the carb there will be a funky star shaped desi9gn on the throttle linkage side that will have nmber cast into it. like 1.08 or 1.12. Typically its better to use the smaller number on a bronco. but either will work if the number is larger then I would think twice about using it on a 302 that more or less stock.

I don't know where one would "trade in" a carburetor. He says he has 2 2100s. The electrically heated choke cap will fit any automatic choke. So there's no need for another 2100.

Buying a rebuilt carburetor while giving up your present carb for a $25 core charge isn't what I call a trade in. Since he has both a manual choke 2100 and an automatic choked one he has the option going with either. Why give that up? If he needs an electrically heated choke cap I'll send him one free, that's made for Ford carbs and works with the alternator's stator terminal power source.

I hear you. I have less time than skills and money I guess.

Swap

Thanks for the help
I rebuilt the autolite and put on a ready to run distributor and coil. Runs smooth now I can even reach thru the window and crank it without touching a thing. Thanks for meeting me with seat belts Farrell great to meet you.
