Chrome grill Placement question

I have the Grille chrome trim ordered (actually backordered) but I need to know where the body paint on the grille ends and the silver (Argent) begins...

How thick are the grill pieces? 1/2"? 3/4"?

The chrome strips, I believe they do no sit on the flat surface of the grille,... Correct?

Do they "surround" the flat center section and mount on the curved part?
anyone have a close-up photo(s) of the placement?

I need to tape off the grill so I can paint the Argent silver before my trim pieces show up.

Thank You
Ron

Not sure if this will help. I think the trim was around a 1/2 inch wide.

Are the holes already there for the clips? Just mask from hole to hole and you'll be done. First pic in my garage shows the whole grille.

Hi,
No, there are no holes, this is a new grille, so I figure run a tape line about 1/4" up off the bend?

They are, as measured, 3/16" holes, located 1/2" from the bend. Not on the flat but outside of it. The inside edge of the chrome is still away from the bend after installation. There are 4 clips on each "C" piece and 7 along the top and bottom each. 22 clips in all. That's a lot. Evenly spaced, etc. You know the drill. Will be easier to install with the grill off the truck. Best of luck and hope this helps.

"...Not on the flat but outside of it..."
I will try'n set mine up to have the inside edge on the flat or right at the transition.
The: "...3/16" holes, located 1/2" from the bend..." ; "...There are 4 clips on each "C" piece and 7 along the top and bottom each. 22 clips..." helps, thank you. As I have a '70 will try'n cut the 'fresh air tube ' opening in the core support simultaneously. The "grill chrome' is alu but polishes up as nice as chrome. Mine will B a trick color instead (inside it is an actual chrome grill. Outside it is body color).

Another trick I've learned on non drilled grilles - place the trim where you want it, draw thin pencil line on both sides of the edges. Split the difference between the pencil lines to position the drill hole. Also note, the studs take a smaller hole than the push in clips.

Clips/?Studs? I have left overs from a rig I restored in the 80s I wanna put on nother today. I may order hrdware/fasteners from the typical vendors. Doing the ford letters, fresh air tube, 'modern hdlghts', this & a chrome grill as it's all off'n in hand.

Smaller holes?
which (not all 3/16th?) ends? top/bottom? If known - details help.

You can drill them all to 3/16”. I tend to drill the stud clips holes smaller. The 3 in the sides are all studs. So are the 2 center ones in the horizontal trim. Then you have 4 plastic clips in the horizontals top and another 4 bottom. 8 stud type and 8 plastic clips does the job.

boy, just what I need, thnx.
The 22 must have been 6 extra ina kit (Tim's)?
/OR/
is that 24 now? hummmm...I still get 16, 1/2'n 1/2 of each kind.

"...So are the 2 center ones in the horizontal trim...."
'...the 2 center...' = 1 top, 1 bottom.
