SOLD!!! now to save up my bottles, as I really do like the option of pulling out certain panels when the weather dictates. Not to mention the white will match my G. Weaver doors.

Oh no, I am thinking crazzy again

After looking at the pics, I got another crazzy idea

If you don't allready have a roll cage in your truck, you could buy a bunch of say 1.5 inch Dom Tubing, and build a cage right behind the framework for the top. This way the cage is allmost totally hidden behind the cage.

You might even be able to box part of the cage in, and bolt the top and cage together, so it looks like they are one peice.

Great, yet another "must-have" for me to drool over for a while. Makes sense, I just recently had my Specialty top fixed up & modified it to work around the family cage. Oh well....I'm sure as soon as Chuck's is readily available I'll be ordering it. Is the matching powder coated frame included in the projected price or is that extra?

So Don the net generation top should be a roll cage too. That would be a fun one. With a little bit of thinking that could be done. If you added together the cost of a soft top and a family cage and used that number as a breaking point you may be able to build a "roll top" for less than the two.
I think you should run with that.

If I tied Chuck's top into my cage I bet it would hold up good in a roll over. The windshield and the top hoops would be where the big damage would be. I think the sides would hold up well.
Who is up for testing this? (Joking)
Dons mind is always working.

I paid a hundred bucks extra for the color. I was not real happy about that, but did not raise a fuss. In a one off prototype I didn't think it should matter what color it is as far as cost goes. Standard is black, but I know many people will want a color. I hope Chuck can have a talk with his painter and work on the color choices and not have them cost extra. But that is up to Chuck.

You are still on the list and will be called. Bax, sorry about the extra charge for the color, the powdercoater charged me $140 to do your color. I was doing two at the time abd called the other guy and he decided to not have the color but I did not have your number with me so decided to co your and cover part of the cost.

Keep in mind the powder coater (sp?) probably had to order that color and thus charged you the cost of the batch of powder. Black is a pretty standard powder color and thus is usually the cheapest color to use.

They spec. ordered 3 lbs, I think the price is too high but if people want it I will go to the extra trouble of getting it done in whatever color they want as long as I don't get complaints about chips, off color or whatever. It would be better for the customer to get their color done locally so they can see the color sample and not have to worry about shipping damange, BTY both tops we have shipped were damanged so I am looking for a better way to ship the parts

No problems on my end Chuck. The gray looks good. Thanks for the 40 dollar gift. I will pay you if you want it.
My line of thinking was more set on painting many frames. Once you start dealing with the painter more, he may be more willing to allow more "standard" colors. I am thinking like being able to choose from 3 colors with no up charge. Who knows. I am back from my fishing trip and now need to get the A/C charged up. That is important now that I have a top.

I don't think 3 colors will make more than 3 people happy but could be wrong. As we have 16 colors of top gun I may be able to match that but the gray they say cost a lot more.

Yeah, I guess it would be hard to come up with more than one
"standard" color.

Ship them like bumpers (raw) and let customers get them match-painted....anything to keep the cost down is good, and painting is just gonna be opening a can of worms for you, for the reasons you stated above.....
