Clutch Fork Push Rod Bushing?

I am putting everything together again and while attaching the clutch fork push rod to the z bar (Equalizer Bar) it looks like there should be some type of bushing there. I don't recall there being one when I removed everything. A look at my Chilton's reveals there should be something, but the only thing I saw was on Wildhorse's sight and it will cost me four times what the part costs to get it here. Has anyone found something at a local parts store they have used for this?

The bushing looks like a plastic ball that has a hole drilled in it, then flattened on the hole ends so it will clear a keeper. I'm not sure why you couldn't use a piece of solid aluminum round stock and drill the hole in the center then cut to length so the keeper key will hold it on.

When I rebuilt mine, I drilled and tapped a hole for a grease zerk in the top center of the cross tube. When I reinstalled it, I cut a small piece of wooden dowel to fill most of the void between the two pivots in either end, then shot if plumb full of grease. I also used a set of heim joints from a snowmobile steering linkage for the connection between the clutch pedal and the Z-bar. I think I was into it about $5. I see the vendors are carrying this now but I bet for a lot more $$$.

With either aluminum or something else you find, the grease trick should make it work well for quite a while.

Wrong bushing. I'm referring to where the push rod attaches to the end of the equalizer bar. See picture

Sorry. I assumed it was the internal one.

My local Ace hardware has bronze bushing that have a flared edge on one side. I wonder if you could get one close and drill it out to fit the rod.

Just a thought. Try Mike or Doug at the Talkeetna Ace Hardware and tell them what you need, they should be able to come up with something.
