That is so awesome, who better than you to get it, knowing and understanding the importance of that Bronco and it’s history. Great find!

Thanks all. I can’t believe it still existed. I called Willie Stroppe the other day and told him and he too was surprised and glad it was so intact. Here’s another pic next to the tupek stroppe bronco. Really shows how much was cut out of body. I’ve never been the fan of the gap caused between bumper and grill on Broncos with body lift, so this bronco is perfect for me as it evens out the world EB-grill-bumper-gap ratio by having a bumper that almost cuts headlight projection! 😃

that's exciting. congrats. neat TC found the hook up

Yup, was really cool! We met 20 years ago just before the Baja 2000, when he had a Baja Bronco and was looking for a few parts - found BajaBronco.com and just called me. Talked for like 1.5 hours and he called me a month or two later and hired me to help with the Baja 2000 crew logistics. My intro to Baja. And while working there, I started chatting with a dude named Nick while I was working on logistics round the clock! ;) And you and Todd had known each other. BRONCOS brought us all together tho! (and Baja).

Thanks 75Denver!

Well, Colt was an early attempt to make the Bronco lighter and faster I think.
I'm still researching the why behind what they did.
The sectioning and floor mods put the body very low.
Parnelli first named Big Oly "Crazy Colt", so in a way he's saying it's a crazy version of this very Bronco...which I think is neat. The Parnelli 1000 tires I've seen on Big Oly and on this Bronco....and on a rack at parnellis once, but I was told they were for Big Oly.

Andrew. Damn. That's one hell of a hunt with a VERY rewarding ending. Is it safe to say the Colt was essentially the prototype for Big Oly? I remember seeing that hood years ago (2nd vintage pic in the lineup) and wondering if it had inspiration from the Thunderbolt or visa-versa. How many PJ tires have you come across in your years? Can't wait to see more historical data and timeline photos. Congrats man!

Hey Andrew,

Cool Driveshaft label I saw underneath it. One on each driveshaft.

That's pretty cool. I remember we used to drive the oil fields on Signal Hill when we were going to Stroppe's shop. That was almost 50 years ago, I'm sure it's changed.

Do a google earth view of signel hill . My Brother designed the park on top of the hill. Something to do with aligning with the summer solstice. You wont be racing around up there anymore. Part of the good ol days gone long ago.

Just finished carb rebuild and air intake system re-do (it looks like it filled with water and sat for a time, a while back...). Got the timing all dialed in and took it around the block for the first time. It's awesome. I'll try to post a video.
