I have no idea what a sportster is. That looks like a regular bronco. Someone throw some knowledge my way.

I only know what I know so far about my 69.

Roadsters made from 66-68, generally came with no doors or top, but could be ordered with them. VIN started with U13. The mirrors were like those in the pic above, but usually attached to the front fender, just forward the door........since there wasn't usually a door there, just an insert.

Take a closer look at the photo. It is an early promo photo. It has front hub caps on the rear and the front has no hubs. There is no rear bumper. Look at the non functioning wing glass and no window frame. The position of and the ends of the front bumper are odd too. The black door knobs are od shaped too. It might even be a wooden model? What else am I missing??

Either I just can make them out, or there's no front license plate holes.

Is it a U13? Those were the standard mirrors on 66's

Yep yep, Standard u15 promo photo as others have stated. I actually have this picture in my office at the plant.

Scott,

Several other things in this pic i have noticed since i stare at it daily (her dress is hanging out the front edge of the door too). Kinda funny. ;D

Welcome okie4570. It's a shame that 60s roads here were very hard to deal and also the work was heavy. It was very bad for the broncos almost all of them were lost. there are only a few in good condition .I hope to rescue more of those that I can

I see no reason to believe the '66 in the photo was anything but a U15. Even if a U13 were ordered with optional doors and top, it would have the mirrors on the fenders. If this is a promo photo, which seems likely, there will never be a Marti report or any VIN # to indicate the U13 designation. All the '66 photos I can find agree that this is a U15. If a U13 VIN isn't exclusively used on roadsters it has no meaning. Could a U15 be ordered with the doors and top deleted?

There's not a Marti to indicate any 66' u13, u14, or u15 even if it weren't a promo. In the top photo, did Ford put those mirrors on u14 and u15s? I thought those were a u13 only mirror.

They were optional on U14s and U15s, but 90% of the time if it came with that style mirror, it's a U13.

They were standard mirrors, the chrome mirrors were a option or upgrade for a few bucks extra. Here's my 66 with 12,400 original miles. Plowed snow it's whole life. Purchased it from the original owner about 15 years ago. And yes that's a Koenig winch with a hydro plow mounted to it. Those were options. Also has interior lights and factory rear hitch. Fact is they was no other mirror option for the roadsters (why we call it the roadster mirror😜) now the windshield mount rearview mirror is a different story😎

That looks awesome. Can't say I've ever seen that. My 66 came with the chrome side mirror but I like the look of the "roadster" ones so much more. Here's a cool pic of a 66 rearview. I've heard there were 3 and I have 3 different ones that have been pulled from 66s:p
