Correct C bushings 2.5 inch lift, front pinion yoke pointing up, down or straight?

I’m in the boat with what seems like most others. My 74 drives like crap at speed on an uneven or bumpy road. Because of this, I try to read most of the posts on steering issues.

I keep reading references to the front pinion yoke angle in combination with C bushings. My 74 has a 2.5 inch lift and I put 4 degree bushings on it years ago. My pinion yoke points up which at the time I figured was a good thing. Now I’m reading it’s a bad thing.

What should the angle be?

Should I go4 degree or 7 degree?

My guess is I put the dang things on wrong and that’s why it’s pointing up but I need a “line in the sand” answer as to what’s correct.

Ideally you want your pinion to point upward and at the same time still have at least 4 degrees of caster. unfortunately with fords set up in stock form with a lift, you can't have both. If your pinion is pointing upward right now, you probably don't have enough caster and that to me is more important than correct pinion angle. I like to put the 7 degree bushings in with any lift that isn't getting longer arms or radius arm drop brackets. I would also venture to say that these eb's didn't have enough caster to begin with.
