Hey folks,

Getting ready to put together a misc. box of orderd parts and on my list was the heater hose set including the valve from TBP. The PO ran the little bypass hose because the heater was disconnected and the hoses were gone. What I got was 3 hoses and a valve. I know it needs to be placed accordingly so my heater knob line from the dash connects to the valve, but I was hoping for a few pictures to show the set up si don't have to stand over my hood trying to put a puzzle together. Any help is always greatly appreciated. Thanks

Don't have a pic handy, but it's pretty simple. Straight piece of heater hose from the connection on the front passenger side of the intake manifold that is routed straight back parallel to the valve cover. The control valve sits at the passenger side rear of the intake manifold, parallel to the valve cover. This is where the heater control cable should reach. You should have gotten a prebent hose with 2 90° bends. This connects the control valve to one of the heater core connections. The other hose connects the other heater core connection to the inlet of the waterpump, on the passenger side.

Maybe someone else will have pics...

I have never seen the 2 90* bendt hose on a Bronco before. Where did you get, sounds like a cleaner easier fix, then just bending the straight hose to fit.

i just went to the auto parts store last night and asked to look at their prebent hoses. i found a nice one with the 90 in it. can't remember what car it's for but it works nice and routes the hoses neatly. i bought 2 of them. it was long enough to go the entire distance from the front of the motor to the heater core. i then spliced in the control valve. the hose was 10 bucks each.

I was wondering the same thing. Do you have any pictures of your hoses installed. I have strait hoses installed with out the valve, but would like to add the valve and bent hoses as I'm sure over time the strait hose will chafe and wear through.

Although this is the silicon hose set, it's the best pic I could find.

the hoses i bought at the parts store look just like the middle one and probably alot cheaper than from the vendor. I'm in the process of making everything look pretty

Here is a diagram from the Ford factory manual:

http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=196817

Double check to make sure the hose connected to the manifold has the heater control valve on it. When the shop installed WH's new complete heater kit on my rig, they put the heater control valve on the hose that was connected to the waterpump. It was unbearably hot in the interior until I figured out their mistake.

I picked up two at Summit Racing just like the middle one. Sooo much cleaner than the way I had them before. Think they were under $9 each.

That diagram is not for an Early Bronco. I found that same diagram on-line earlier today listed as being for some year (I don't remember) F150.

The diagram was cut-and-paste from the Ford Factory OEM Shop Manual for 1973 that I got from Bronco Graveyard. It is supposed to cover both Broncos and trucks for that year.

The set I got looked just like the pic above with the 3 hoses. they are pre-bent (thankfully). I wouldn't have been able to make it look nice without the bend due to the core line being so close to the darn wheel well. I think that diagram from the ford manual will help. Thanks all.

That picture is not much help it does not have the bent hoses or heater control valve. That is the way mine is connected right now which is wrong and would like to change it. My hoses probably came from JBG and thats why they are wrong.

Hey guys. I was searching for a heater hose part number for the special.... hard to find... S shaped 5/8 host and found this thread.
I have the S shaped hose on one of my Broncos but forgot the part number and I need another one for a bronco I just picked up and I started searching again.

Anyway..... I found the hose number. Dayco #87726

$13 on Amazon but you should be able to find this at your local parts store.http://www.amazon.com/Dayco-87726-Heater-Hose/dp/B000C0TEXM

Hope this helps. The rest of the hoses are straght 5/8" hose.

The 90degree heater hoses are available at any part store. Both Bronco heater core connections get one. The hose from the elbow behind the thermostat on the intake has the cable control valve. The valve is positioned where ever the cable ends. Some are longer than others. My '77 had the valve just in front of the loop that holds both hoses on the air cleaner support. Both hoses then run to the heater core with the least sharp bends or places that rub anything. Neither hose runs straight back. The heater control cable is also kept as straight as possible so it's easier to use.

Here's a good hose I discovered bugging my local parts store and riffling through their hose section - Dayco #87771. You can cut this weird bent hose to use as your "S" hose off your heater core going to the heater valve and use the other "L" you cut off for you t-stat bypass hose. ;D
Use a Dayco #80401 for the other end of your heater valve and the connection off the top of intake.
Use a larger diameter rubber hose over the outside heater core hose to prevent the outside from chaffing on the fenderwell. You can also use a large diameter plastic tube that you'd run wires through. Forgetting what you'd call that stuff at the moment.
