• Be EXTREMELY cautious if someone offers to buy your Bronco for more than your asking price and sight unseen. ESPECIALLY if the buyer is overseas. It's probably a scam.

Thanks for the footwork

Thank you sir, you saved me being tempted to make the two hour trip. Now anyone who might be interested knows the details. Still may be a good price for a starter project.

It's got a '66 m/c and rear shock mounts but looks like it's had a motor swap. That one looks like a 200, not the 170. The 170 has 3 freeze plugs and the 200 has 5. That one looks like it has 5. Interesting. VIN should have been on the driver's kick panel.

I will just go buy it for you and store it until you get down this way. Then you can look at it all you want. How's the family? Oh yeah, to clarify. You will need to reimburse me for the purchase. I like you but not that much!

While it's down at your place in storage, could you do a little restoration work on it prior to my arrival?

Thanks Darcytribe for the pics. The Bronco does look like a nice starter project for someone. Seems like a good price for what I can see from the pics.

well it has 68 and up doors on it. 66 tail light lenses. it has the fold down window option so last for that was 69. No side markers back to 68 on that. Looks like the 66 front hubs. my bet is a 68 or 69 with some 66 running gear.

you cant put 68 doors on a 66 body. the strikers dont line up. and the tailgate looks to be a 66.

I think I've figured it out... lets see

I've been restoring classic automobiles for over 30 years. You'd have to throw a lot of $ into that one. If the vin didn't start with U13 I wouldn't offer half what he is asking. And then I'd use it for parts. With the economy like it is - 3K would buy you something a little nicer.

Not everyone out there is looking to do a concourse grade restoration with a Bronco. Have a look around this site and you'll see the percentages are pretty well split between restos and 4 wheelers.

If you think this truck is only a viable purchase as a parts donor, I'd like to see the stockpile of rust free metal you've been pulling your resto candidates from.

I'm not defending it as a 2750 truck. But it is still a very viable candidate for getting back on the road.

I agree it would probably make a good driver. It's still overpriced in MY opinion. As for rust free parts I have a pretty good stock pile of fairly rust free parts. I never buy reproduction parts for my Bronco resto's and have dismantled several Broncos that could have been restored just to complete another one. My point about the Bronco mentioned is with the economy is so bad now, that 3 to 4k can purchase something a lot better. I wasn't comparing daily driver to full resto.

I just passed on a 72 half cab for 2k. It was full of bondo and undercoating. I just purchased a 66 U15 for $1200.00 that runs and drives - poorly I might add - but I'll cut it up for parts before I put a dime into it to make a couple of dollars.

Just my opinion. 3K can buy a lot right now.

I called this morning and the guy that answered said it had not sold....maybe he is waiting for someone to show up with cash.....

I think it would be fine for somebody wanting to restore one but why not spend a few thousand more and get a little more bang for your buck since you are going to have to go through all of it anyways....

That's my opinion but what do I know....

I've exchanged e-mails with the guy, and he says it DOES run & drive well, but he has to use a gas can - apparently the tank is trashed. The winch is included, but he doesn't know if it works. He says it hasn't been on the road in years, so I guess the tires are probably about to disintegrate. He says the floor is pretty bad, but wouldn't send me useable pics. His responses are VERY brief.
