I like to run the outside holes. if that picture was taken on with the wheels on the ground the shocks are too long.

which leads me to this question.... i thought people were running 10 inch travel shocks with this set-up....

All Broncos are not the same. That is why I always tell people to measure their travel.
When I install the hoop I put it up hi and a little foreward (6")at the top

You have to think how you want your suspension to flex when you pick what length shocks you want. Looking at your picture you have about 2-3 inches of up travel and the rest downtravel. This doesn't mean your shocks are too long, it just means that your tires will droop more then they will stuff. If the rest of your truck is set up accordingly (bump stops, brakes lines, etc) then there is nothing wrong with that setup. It all depends on how you want it to behave.

For example I have 3.5" suspension and 2" body and I set up my front axle for about 3" of up travel and 9" of downtravel. I haven't tested it too much but hopefully it works well.

By moving the top of the shock in, you dont need to run as long of a shock because of the angle.
