whats the advantage to having this setup rather than stock setup? I just got a 2.5 inch lift and new shocks for it. Would I have to buy new shocks maybe longer?

It will give you better movement in the rear. With your stock shock mounts they act as a limiting strap when you really try to flex the rear. Also you will have to buy longer shocks and weld new mounts to your axel.

Here is one reason we designed or shock hoop. The shocks were a little long trying to get full droop but had to sacrifice some up travel. With the stock mounts it's one or the other.You can't have both.
