I found this locally, on Craig's list. Late 97' Explorer 5.0. 87K mi. P heads, return fuel rails, aluminum oil pan.
I just need to gather up all the other stuff to make the swap. It sure helps that a bunch of you have already done this and documented it to this site. Thank you.

Nice score!

This place is great, aint it? Sure comes in handy when starting a project, and these helpful guys have already done the research and footwork, and then are so willing to share the wealth

Wow, that thing looks great. Everything is there and intact which will make the install go much smoother.

Good luck with the swap and reach out if you need anything. I think I still have a parts list flooting around somewhere if you need one.

Sweet. Call me or PM me if you need a hand putting that bad boy in. Btw what happened to the tranny? Should have been a 4r70 behind that motor

Looks to be in good shape.

Overall, it looks good, the oil is clean. I'm mainly relying on the seller's word. Seemed to be a straight up guy. The Explorer was hit in the front. The fan and clutch are gone. The water pump has been sitting dry for too long to use it anyway. Just they parts are worth what I paid for the motor.;)

The first phase of this swap will be replacing the exhaust on my Bronco, now that I know what type of headers I'll need. FMS-M-9430-P50. These work but they are a bit tight on the passenger side frame rail.

Kev, The trans had already been sold, yes it was a 4R70w, but I'm still happy with my C4, for simpletons like me. Just not ready for OD yet.
