terra lows- $825.00
upgrade rear shaft-429.00
rebuild kit-100.00
shifter-150.00
total-$1400.00 - $1600.00

atlas 4.3-1- $2400
shifter- $225.00
adapter if needed- $400 -$ 525
custom crossmember mount $$$ & Drive shafts $$$
total- $3600- $4500.00

Really dont think they are the same price when its all added up. The D-20 is still a great case after 30+ years. If you got the $$ go with the atlas. For 90% of the wheelers on here the atlas is overkill. But if u want it get it, for 1/3 of the cost I'd upgrade the d-20. If you are that worried about the front output get a new one and have it cryo'ed for strength or install break out locking hubs.

Quit throwing bad information out there - you are WAY overinflating pricing!

I'm going to do everyone a favor - and post my exact receipt I got from AA.

The Atlas comes with the shifter, requires NO adapter, NO custom cross member and minor drive shaft modification. I didn't touch my front, but cut <~3/4" out of my rear.

Please do the research before you bash - you were totally off base on multiple points. Advance Adapters is a wonderful company to work with and they will give you some of the best support in the entire 4x4 industry- no joke.

I installed mine in ~4 hrs with the help of a friend and a jack. I have no body lift, but it did require some floor modifications. This is by far, the best upgrade I've done to date.

For a mere $500 more you can have a top of the line case that is fully synchronized and damn near bullet proof. $500 may sound like a large number, but think of all of the time you will have to spend on your D20 tearing it all apart, installing gears, sealing it all back together and hoisting it back up into place. If you are going to do a complete build up of the D20, just skip the pain and go with an Atlas2 - oh yeah, you get to pick your gear ratio and output yolks *bonus*

I had everything lined up, rebuild kit, output, twin stick, gear gawker - etc etc and then I called up Stak and Advance Adapters and talked to them on the phone. I quickly found that Stak's are not a quality product and weighed the Atlas vs the D20. It's obvious I went with the Atlas and I've never been happier - I know I've got instant resale value and trouble free performance. I've never had a stick pop out of gear and changing gears is like shifting a new manual transmission, smooth and positive engagement. How pissed are you going to be when you completely build a D20 and still have the rear output popping out on you?

Well that about sums that up. Really makes the Atlas seem reasonable.

Thanks for providing the input Kyle. It is a bit of a eye opener.

Does anyone know if the atlas can bolt up to the NV3550 or will the D20 adapter that I allready have installed for the NV3550 work on the atlas too?

bolt patten is the same for the atlas and the 3550. no adapter required. just make sure you order the correct input spline count on the atlas.

and yes, viper, i did modify the upper shift pill seats to allow for front digs.

Got the prices right off wildhorses site, I think I added taxes- dont know what your problem is but I dident bash anyone u douchebag. I even stated to get the atlas if u had the extra $$. So for whatever reason u have turned this fix it post int a price fight between the d-20 build and a new atlas. So I will conceed you are right and I am wrong the atlas is the same price and even easier to install that the d-20.

You should post all your build and bolt-on mods so we can all follow your master plan on how to build a Bronco
