I can tell you right now, most people I deal with are equally split between the Deluxe and Super Deluxe (with the shaft) kits.
Most people don't end up actually needing the new idler shaft, but have it anyway either just in case, or to replace it while they're in there because they don't want to do it again.
That's reasonably sound logic, but if your shaft is not worn out by now, and assuming you have reasonable lubrication replacement standards, it's not likely to wear out any time in the near future either.
But some people do need them, so it's that knowledge that keeps the Super Deluxe near the top of the list.
The double-lip seal is available all by itself if that's all you need, but if you're digging into the case, then at least the seal and gasket kit would be a good thing. And don't forget to add some sealant to the shim pack at the front output bearing while you're at it.
The main input and output bearings are the most often needed on an old case that did not have very diligent oil changes, so new bearings are not really out of line for a case that was felt to be still in reasonable condition.
Definitely worth checking all those aspects. If you have the time, you can inspect the case before choosing a kit. That way you don't waste any money on parts you don't need. But if you're trying to be efficient and keep the truck from being down too long, sometimes you just need to go big.
Which is likely why our top kits are also our top sellers.
Hope that helps.
