Dana 20 / Adapter Housing Disassembly Question

Looking at the manual it looks like the adapter housing internals should pull out when the adapter housing is removed. I'm trying to get in there to replace the seal since the tranny is leaking into the D-20.

Is this thing press fit together or do I need to remove something else to get it apart to replace the seal?

the coupler usually pulls out with the intermediate housing. In your case it stayed in the transfer case. You should be able to tap it side to side to work it loose. There is a gear on the other side. It comes out with the coupler however there are roller bearings that will want to come out too. Turn the case so it is facing up before you take the coupler off.

Sometimes it helps to give it a little tappy-tap from the inside.

I have the opposite of this problem, the spud shaft and main T/C gear came out with the adaptor and I can't get them out. I'm installing an Advance Adaptors AOD to D20 adaptor so I need to get the TC main gear off the spud shaft, is ther a snap ring or other retainer I'm not seeing?

Yep. Snap ring keeping the gear on the end of the shaft.
