I'm doing major work to my 71. Got tired of have that grinding sound coming from the rear end so I decided it was time to do a rebuild. A few years ago we installed a 700R4 with a 302 roller motor. Since I'm getting into the power track I decided to switch to 4.56 gears and put on a set of 33 inch tires. I got the 9 inch all squared away. Even went with a Wild Horses 2.5 lift. Now I'm into the Dana 30. I picked up a Spartan locker to add to the new gears. I pulled off the cover and found a power track in the front too. This rig has been in the family since new and I never knew it was there.

Here's my dilemma. The pinion has shims and no crush sleeve like the 9 inch. I'm trying to decode the etchings on the old and new pinions. Maybe someone can tell me what their saying?

Here's the original
