Does anything have to be reset to install an EZ Locker in the Dana 44? If I am understanding correctly it is all set with shims and if you are not changing the carrier or gears you can just bolt it back in the same way it came out. Is this corect?

In therory I would say yes. I personally would freshen it up a little with new bearings and inner seals. I think that there is a crush washer(seal) that goes on the pinion before you put the yoke(flange) back on. items in ( ) is how it is listed in the awsomely bad hanes manual.
I would also check all clearances while it was going back together.

Just put it in and bolt it back together. There is nothing to set-up. Just make sure you torque everything down.

You will have to remove the carrier from the housing. Then you will probably have to take the ring gear off the carrier to get the cross shaft out. Take out the old spiders and drop in the new diff. Reassemble as you took it apart. Pretty simple, the shims for the carrier are b/w the bearings and the carrier. Not between the bearings and the case like an 8.8 or chevy type rear end.
