OK GUY you may remember me asking questions for my hunting Buddy as He has a 1966. Bronco He put a new 5.0 HO 87 LINCOLN motor & AOD ..
So long story short It's been in 4 shops & it hasn't ran but maybe 2 months in about 2 years .. One shop went broke & closed He barley got it back .. Next shop It;s owner TINKERED With it & gave it back. sAYING IT WAS FIXED, all they could do . They really like to work on only LS motors..
He got in another shop & that owner got cancer & has passed away........
.
Now at no.4 This kid has had it for almost a year but At Least he did get it cranked a few days ago .. SO HE's now putting the dash back together .. Now He did work at the Local Ford house but went out on his own.. SO DASH Cluster he's trying to put it back in He doesn't understand the AMP GAUGE.. 66 HAS A LOOP On the back of it..
How do you wire it up..
What size wire goes through that LOOP ?.
WHAT GAUGE.
Where does that wire come from .. Voltage Reg ...Alternator he has the 87 Lincoln about 120 amp maybe big one.
Where does it go after it leaves the cluster
I'm going to leave that here so we'll stay on this Thought..

Someone else will post up the full answer, but if it has the Lincoln alternator, there shouldn't be anything going through the loop, and the ammeter wont work. There's too much current coming out of the alternator, it would kill the ammeter. That's why people have been replacing them with a voltmeter. There's threads on here about it. Look for (I think) 3g alternator conversion or similar.

I've got a 2nd question I'll ask after that one has been hashed out ..
My Buddy has been stung very hard on this last motor repair..
He a good guy Church a Christ lay Preacher .. Does Funeral for the Local Funeral Home free
.Been on the city Council for 20 years Got off because of cancer .. Recovered & Got reelected about 750 to 190 votes .
I've known him since I was in the 1st grade.. 5 generation own of hardwear store & Mfg plant local business man..
My Hunting partner until we've got to old to go to NEW MEXICO 21 TIMES OVER 25 YEARS & WE'VE HUNTED together since about 1970...
We started with my 1980 OJ Bronco i STILL got setting in the pasture .. W/ a 1995 300cid motor setting in the shop ...
MY 1974 Bronco with 4BT ..4 SPEED NP435 & MORE..
HE'S HAD HIS 1966 Since about 1998.. We overhauled the 200 cid Then Swapped in a np435 ..A few year later I found him a 250cid .. We swapped it in then power steering
Then his knee got to hurting So He wanted a V8. oUT CAME THE 250 & iN WENT A 302 & CARB AND A C4.. his has 4.11's .He did like the C4.. So i found him a A4OD.. THAT WAS A WRECK.. TRANS shop That built it built it to be a rock climber He wanted it to be a maul queen .. SO FOUND Him a 5.0L HO major rebuild at machine shop .. About $3500.00 everything new & another a4od.. New Painless wiring complete. All Ford Motorcraft parts for the EFI & ALL the sensors all motorcraft ..
IT Still does run ... I'm surprised he's not got mad & sold it, But he wants to Drive it till he dies....
I want to take it to New Mexico hunting & wheeling one more time .
He's probably has over 40K in this Bronco . Because when he fixes it he has all the best parts he can find .

That's a lot of words in that last post you made to not have a question in it. But I do love your stories...

Demoses, , that's about what I told him at Noon today when we ate dinner together ..
We nearly always eat together & i get a Bronco up date & CHECK to see what what parts he needs. If I know the answer i give it to him . iF NOT I ask on here or go to some more guys i know ..
So Demoses, Is there an after market Volt gauge that can be added in place of the old amp gauge .. Or is it just buy A DAKOTA Cluster .. I told him to buy a Dakota He said enough is enough.. Then Cut a 2'' hole in the dash Or hang one off the bottom of the Dash ..
.... What do some other add in that Vacant Hole in the old Cluster.
