So I have a 66 bronco with mixed knobs m. Can you replace just the knobs and not the whole piece? If so how do you remove and replace with new knob? I don’t want to replace the whole piece?

Thanks

There is a roll pin that is pressed in, retaining the threaded stud into the knob. Atleast the ones on my 75 are made that way. might want to soak the whole thing in penetrating oil for a while before trying to work on.

Ha! Good question, guess I’ve never removed mine! Thought they had a little Allen set screw, at least my 72 knobs are that way

I just replaced all mine, bought a kit from WildHorses. They're billet instead of plastic, which makes a huge difference. Check the website. ;)

No set screws on either of my 66', I've never tried to remove them either so I'm not much help lol. I know on the early 60's f100, they used the same knobs, but those did have set screws.

How do you take the black plastic piece off?

I'll take a closer look this evening at my heater switch knob as it is the only one that looks like it MAY have a notch in it.

It may very well be that many of them are one piece, especially the ones with no switch on the back side of the dash like the heater control, defrost, choke, even the light switch has a release button so the knob/shaft assembly can be removed as one. Only ones i can think of that would need to be removeable is the heater switch and wiper switch, but again you've not said which knobs you're referring to.

As I suspected, all the heater controls have a nut holding them to the backside of the dash, so the knobs are likely integrated with the shaft. The heater control fan/switch knob I unscrewed the bezel to see if there was some type of release, there wasn't so I pulled the knob and it came right off ;D hope this helps
