Delima - Brand new Roller 302/C4 or Coyote/6r80?

I have a brand new crate roller 302 and a freshened C4 (heavy duty bands, shift kit, new seals etc, etc) and I just bought a used (less than 5k miles) coyote/6r80 from a '11 f150. The 302 is in the car, painted/detailed with an explorer serpentine set-up. I also have a Pro-Jection TBI fuel injection set-up I have yet to install. It has 36k/3 year warranty. I have never fired it up.

Because it was a good deal, I bought the Coyote combo last week. I want to have the bronco up and running by April (Fabulous Fords Forever in OC). Obviously there are considerable costs involved with putting the coyote in.

Should I pull the 302/C4 and sell it and make a mad dash to put the Coyote in (which will include underhood body and paint work) and sell the 302 as a NEW crate engine or do I save the coyote and eventually put it in the EB or do I put the coyote on the garage floor and find something else to put it in?

Eeeeh, erm, um... My understanding is, it will/would take considerable amount of work to shoe horn in a Coyote into the EB engine bay between the frame. Think I read in last months Bronco Driver a blip about a Co offering new frames wider to accept Coyote Engines but with the same body mounting holes for the tub ( see where I'm going with "considerable" ). It is really up to you if you want to tackle something with a host of unknown problems that will have to be over come, or simply put in something that will slip in like a glove.

Yeah, the 302 is already in and waiting to be wired. BC Broncos just did a coyote in a stock frame.

I would say sell the motor because you will get more money as it is new and use that money to help fund with the coyote swap. You have 4 months until FFF, it may be enough time and it may not be. It's a gamble man. Only thing i have to say is that if you save the coyote swap for later it may never happen. Chuck at BC Bronco may have some parts ready to do the swap. I would talk to him and see wat he says. I believe he is the only one that i saw put a coyote in the stock frame. Good luck and hope to see it at FFF.

I say buy a 68 F100 and drop the coyote in it... lower it and put some big shinny wheels on it... Bammm!!!

I would keep the 302 combo in your bronco

I have a '68 International Traveall that I'm considering doing just that! Was thinking black steelies and wide white walls, but big and shinny is always nice!

get another bronco, this is an addiction you must deal with.

Like!!

Not sure of the coyote rage right now. I'd wait on that until vendors offer more 'plug and play' type stuff. Unless you don't have a job or are going to have someone do it, 4 months will be up in no time

Leave the 302 in.
Build another rig with the Coyote.

Nothing messes up a build then changing design (especially major parts) mid build.

Having driven a 5.0 truck and a 5.0 mustang (both late model coyote engines), I don't know what they did different between the two but the car is impressive while the truck is just a bit boring.

Sell the coyote engine it will bring more money than a 302/c4 setup. or just crate it up and stick it in the corner for a later project.

How about you give me your address, I will show up with a truck and pick this engine up. That way you don't have the hard decision of deciding which one to install.

That's what Bronco Brothers are for...Right? ;D

Build a new project while you enjoy the one you just finished. Go different for a varity that keeps your mind growing and not bored. A/C Cobra, lightweight kit street rod, lowered truck. I would, or do, build another vehicle.
