I have just long blocked a 1996 explorer 5.0 in preperation for an EFI swap. I have decided to go with the fitech instead of the explorer EFI. I need to buy a distributor and not 100% sure of what gear I need. I kept the stock explorer roller cam. I think I need a dizzy with a steel gear. Does anybody know for sure? Also if anybody has done the fitech TBI and could recommend a dizzy...Im all ears! I plan on having the fitech control timing.

Thanks Broncobowsher! And I will post a thread on the fitech when I get it done. Ordering it tomorrow, so it will be a little while.

You definitely want a steel dist gear with your roller cam. You can buy a reman duraspark dizzy for an 85 mustang, or just buy a steel gear on eBay, etc. and press it on the dist. of your choice. I ended up buying just the gear after 2 tries with the reman still showed up with a cast gear.
