Distributor on EFI swap?

??? I am swapping a EFI setup from a 87' Ford van to a 65' 289. I have heard that the distributor will have to be cut to length. Is this true, and if so what would the measurement be. Seems like it would be the same thing. Thanks for any help.

If the doner is a 302, then nothing. The '87 Econoline should be a flat tappet cam, same as the standard 289 so the distributor gear should even work. I have NEVER heard of the little small blocks (302 and smaller) changing anything with the distributor length. There were some funky things going on in the late 70's and early 80's, but most of those have been retrofitted with normal distributors by now.
