Distributor: Summit RTR or Pertronix

Looking at new distributors for my 302 roller motor without electronic ignition. I’ve heard mixed stories about Pertronix reliability. Summit’s RTR looks decent but I have little info.

All advice appreciated.

Ive had good luck so far with a summit dizzy. It's been going for 5 years. So far I've had 2 pertronix products one being a dizzy. Didnt have much luck with either of em.

The "ready-to-run" feature these companies are trying to sell, isn't really ready to run at all. All that means is there's no control box.
They all will still need advance curve adjustment for your particular motor and application.

I prefer using the Duraspark ignition for the sake of parts replacement.

I get my distributors from Parkland Performance in Tacoma WA. They take your engine specs, cam card, vehicle weight, gearing, tranny type, and vehicle use. You get a complete rebuilt Duraspark distributor that has the vacuum and mechanical advance set up for your engine and application. They also include a recommended initial timing setting.
All for only $200.

This is crazy. I've had both of those dizzys, and they both took a crap on me. Rebuilt motor with RV. Cam. I went with a HEI from TSP,$100, it's been working great,even after installing FiTechs fuel injection kit. I don't like those ready to run units. That's just my story,good luck.
