Has anyone here re skinned a Bronco door? Any tricks to the job? I have a door that's beyond repair any other way. I know I can buy a whole new one but would like to learn something new. Thanks

I did my Driver side and it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. There are some tips and tricks here and there on the forum.

To remove the old skin grind the edge of the door until you see a crack form in the metal where it is folded over. you can pull off the outside then it is easy to find the spot welds on the remaining inner part.

I primed the insides with weld through primer before assembly.

Use adhesive as opposed to welding. SO MUCH EASIER and it seals the water (rust) out at the same time. I used a dolly with a microfiber on the outside of the skin while tapping the lip down on the inside. No other body work was required.

I avoided it for a while because I thought it would be harder than it turned out to be.

Andy, thanks for the reply. Did some research online and that was the recommended technique. I'll give it a try.

Just to clarify.... you only use weld thru primer where you are going to weld.
If you use panel adhesive you have to have bare metal on both mating surfaces.
When you dolly the skin on go around and hammer and dolly it a little at a time. You might have to go around the skin 5-6 times. I worked with a bodyman that said he counted how many times he hit the skin and stopped counting at 900 some. A hard rubber sanding block it good to use so you don't beat up the door panel too bad. If you never did one before I would use the slow panel adhesive.
