Double Lip Axle Seal?

I’ve got a big bearing rear that takes a 51098 seal. Passenger side always seems to leak, changed the seal many times. Curious if there is a double lip seal available and the part number? Thanks all!

change many times, so, what is the surface of the axle where seal sits? shiney? Sandy? Might need a speedy seal fix. Quantity of lube? Overfilled?

I had a leaking seal, and it had a wear groove in the axle from years of use. I found a seal that was narrower than the original and doesn't seat as far in the housing, so it rides on the axle on a different place. It has worked well for the last three years. I can't remember if it is a big or small bearing rear end, but I am sure you could find a narrow seal for either one.

You also have to make sure it’s not leaking from around the perimeter of the seal.
The axle surface is not the only one that needs to seal. When I replaced my seals the first time, the axles were in perfect shape. But it still leaked out of one side.
Turned out the seal surface of the axle housing itself had just enough Nick’s and scratches to allow oil out.

Without removing the new seal, I cleaned it, let it dry, applied some silicone sealer, let it cure fully, then reassembled everything.
Stayed leak free for 20 years after that.

Good pt dirtd, i use a locktight like material around metal to metal seal joints, forget it's name, maybe locktight?

I have also had good luck either installing seal farther or shorter than what the old seal position road at, lets it see new material.

Oh, and if it is leaking around the axle itself, and you have a groove worn in it like the others have mentioned, it can often be fixed.
So if it’s just a slight groove, you can sand it down smooth with 400 grit sandpaper or emery cloth.
If it’s too deep for that, you have four choices.
Speedo/Redi sleeve it, find a seal that’s thinner like mentioned, seat the seal at a different depth so that it doesn’t ride on that spot, or buy a new axle.

Thanks for the replies. These are newer axles, it probably is leaking from the housing surface. I will try these ideas. Thanks!!
