Can anyone suggest a good place to start looking for a drop base 14" air cleaner setup for my stock 2100?

I have a rinky dinky 12" edelbrock which looks like Hadies & is only about 1" high! The MOnkey Mobile needs more air in there!!!!

Thanks all!

HI Primate.

Got the same setup myself and I am going for a stock Ford air cleaner off one of big broncos or Ford half tons. Those aircleaners are made for the 2100 and are drop base and if the old farts memory isn't too far out of wack takes about a 14 inch filter cartridge. I am headed for the UPick to look real soon.

TransDapt #2147 - this is the lowest drop base I have come across that still clears stock components. 14" dia, and total height is only 1 5/8" above the carb flange with the 2 1/8" element they provide. I used a 3" inch element, putting me just under 2 1/2" above the flange and it works great with a stock setup.

Thanks Matt.

All, would I be better looking at an older style & Snorkling fresh air to the carb as opposed to using "Engine" air?

I have wondered about this too, but then noticed that on some of the fastest muscle cars they access engine air only and do just fine. I haven't noticed a drop in performance, even in summer. Possibly just the opposite, due to increased air flow v.s. the restricted stock style cleaner.

"Will an Aircleaner for a 4v work on my 2v?"

I believe the 2100, 2150 and Holley 2300 all use a standard 5 1/8" dia carb flange, as do most 4 bbls. As long as the flange dia measurement is the same, you are good to go.

I think I have found my candidate for replacement.

I think an 80's Mustang will work! Dual Snorkeling in fresh air!!!

I tried one of those from an 82 H.O. stang and ran into some problems:

1. Sat too high off the carb flange and rubbed the hood - even with no flange gasket.

2. Would not clear the throttle linkage

3. Hard to find a good spot on the drivers side for the second snorkel

After I got all the problems worked out, I saw no performance benefit, only a more congested engine bay. I ended up selling it.........
