I have a 8000 warn winch and the cable has come out of the drum end attachment point for the second time. Any good fixes?

Get a longer cable so when you pull it out you still have some wraps on the drum.

the M 8000 is the style with a small allen that bolts to the drum ... The older 8274 had a pass through. ( if your 8000lb winch is the 8274 model i just routed mine through the drum and put a big cable locking clamp on it )

is this piece broken from your cable? Are you sure you have enough cable to wrap the drum at least once while in operation? is the cable routed the right way around the drum?( orientation) Im not sure exactly what the problem here is? the end of the cable should NEVER see any stress or weight load...???

thats really odd, ive owned at least 10 different winches from 6k to 16.5 and never had this issue.. if you are leaving a MINIMUM of one wrap ( they say 1.5 wraps is best) then there should be no stress at that little allen bolt..

is the hole in the drum for the allen head stripped maybe?

steel or synthetic shouldnt matter but i know Master Pull line has a slightly larger diameter hole on the end that may need a washer...but that should be apparent

ah, gotcha...just get a new end and crimp it back using a vice and a small object to dimple it, squeeze the jaws shut...

that crimp/clamp is not load bearing and strictly just holds the cable there...

overhead cranes require a minimium of three wraps of cable on the drum, the clamp or set screw at the end of the cable is there to hold the cable in place not to pull on.
