Does this look like I’ve removed too much of the strength for this piece to still do its job? You can see what I had to cut to make it work on the HP D44. I’m thinking of getting it welded up and then trying to add a triangular gusset to add some strength back in. What do you guys think?

I would run it, and I tend to be hard on stuff. I can swing by and put eyes on it if you’d like.
Hey you can swing by and see how I’m doing anytime! I can use all the guidance I can get.

I didn’t realize you were close enough to just “swing by” shoot me a pm if you want.

Hey okie69, I'm just curious why the spacer between the c-cap and raduis arm head unit . Is the axle and wedges wider than a stock Dana 44.

I’m not positive. There was an option for mounting on a HP44 on the duffs site and it included these spacers. I will say it felt like it was about as tight as it was gonna get with the spacers in.

I’m sure somebody that knows more than me will chime in.

I went on Duff site and see they use them for the larger diameter axle tubes.

This HP D44 looks to have 3 inch tubes. My stock D30 has 2.5 inch tubes. That probably doesn’t help but I was wondering.

You guys have me wondering about those spacers. My hp44 has 2.75" tubes and my c bushings are squished out pretty hard. I thought I compensated for that when I welded the wedges on but now I'm second guessing myself. That was years ago though and I can't remember what happened last week!

Found someone in town to weld it. Hopefully it’s burned in enough 😬

I’ll probably still holler at you when I get ready to assemble the rest of the axle. I’m still a bit intimidated.
