I did 1" on each side. I have aftermarket rear fenders "for now" They don't fit the same and stick out about .5-.75" further. If you have stock fenders I think you will need 1" on both sides.

If I was to do it again I would have gone a slightly smaller tire and not done any of it I don't think the effort was worth it.

So, with a rear axle a full 2" narrower than the front, can you visually detect it? My fear would be that the front and rear tires wouldn't line up, and that this would be visually apparent.

My builder has spec'd .5" off each side for 1" total (new Camburg fab rear housing, Currie ends), and plans to to nip/tuck/roll the rear fenders as needed. And a new perch obviously.

I hope we get it right!

I talked with the owner of Icon a few times about rear axle width. He wouldn't give me exact, but told me 1" was about right for each side. This is only if you have stock fenders. I honestly don't think .5" would do it.

I talked with the engineer at dufftuff and he agreed on the 1", looking back I may have tried .75", but that all depends. All cars have a wider front axle then rear. My ration is exactly the same as dodge uses in stock trucks/ suv's. Just FYI.

I am running 1/4" spacers now. So effectively giving me .75" on each side. I will be interested to see how it looks with stock fenders installed. I assume I will be removing the spacers. But who knows till I do it.

If I was to do this project again, I would do .75-1". Then longer studs if I need to run a 1/4 spacer.

I will need T-rex arms in the front, currently my tires hit, when turning tightly.

You can see how much room Icon really has in the rear in this picture.

The blue LUBR is rocking yuma black rocks with 265/75/16 tires. Owner claims they clear easily.

Which is

265/75 16 = 31.65 x 10.43

285/70-17 Difference 32.71x 11.22

Is there published data somewhere that states Dodge has different track widths front/rear?

There was some info posted here recently where another member was absolutely certain that Broncos had different track widths front/rear whereas Ford always published 57.4" front/rear for all years of our trucks.

There were some 4x4s with slightly wider front track widths but I don't believe the Bronco was one of them.

Just curious where all this info and thoughts are coming from.

There were some 4x4s with slightly wider front track widths but I don't believe the Bronco was one of them.

Just curious where all this info and thoughts are coming from.

That info is from automotive engineer (dodge) and I personally measured some cars. My tundra has 75" rear (tire on, so it's tough to measure) and 77" inch in the front. The shop that built my axles is a high end 4x4 build shop. That makes crazy 4 links, monster trucks etc.. They are the ones that initially gave me the idea. My buddy that was an engineer gave me a ratio to stay at. But I can't remember that.

I was told the shorter the rig the more it could be different. I am 100% not an engineer though. Before I found this out, I would have thought all cars had the same width front and rear.

So ever since I got my bronco running it’s always ran rough/ poor. I have been chasing it for most of the summer with no luck. I took it to the tranny shop and I thought I had torque converter shutter. He was an old timer and told me he thought I had a bad injector (1990 rebuilt 5.0). Originally my motor came with a nice looking fuel rail and injectors.

I then did research on the best injectors to get. I decided on 1996 explorer Bosch injectors. They have 4 spray holes instead of one and should yield some more hp/ better combustion.

I was pulling everything apart. And my jaw dropped on how dirty/ rusty the fuel rail was. Almost every Injector was clogged with rust/ dirt. When I bought the motor, I didn’t think to pull the rail and injectors apart to throughly clean. Since they visually looked so nice. Yesterday I spent some time flushing it and detailing it. New injectors in and it runs amazing. Like 100% different. Smooth as silk. No shutter, sounds better, reacts so quick. I feel dumb, but building this bronco has been a learning experience for sure. But glad it’s fixed. I am thinking whoever I bought the motor from ran it without a fuel filter and bad gas tank. Lesson learned. Boy is it fun to drive now and 75 mph with the 4r70w is so nice. Glad I went 4.56 gears as well.

Same fuel rail and wiring plugs. Just get the 1996 ones.

So I made a mistake and did 3/8 nut zerts into my body for the hard top. Then linex'd over them. So i am kind of stuck. I couldn't find a 3/8 washer I liked. So I had a local machine shop do these up for a arp stainless bolt. They are a little more thick then I would have wanted. I think they will look nice though.

So my 66 rear quarter panels are out. Slightly surface rust on most of them. Next is replace all metal that is gone. I'm excited for a all ford steel bronco.

Off to media blast them. Body guy is confident he can make them look perfect. Time will tell.

So my summit branded fuel pump is still too loud for my liking. I got this billet Holley for christmas. Says it's silent, and the reviews are pretty awesome. We shall see! Silly expensive for a fuel pump. Says it's guaranteed for 3,000 hours of use though. It should fit on the frame rail perfectly.

I can’t rememeber what I asked for. Either 600 or 800. My 5.0 will never use all of its flow ability.

My 66 rear panels are done and ready for install. Time to save some money up.

These had all rust media blasted. All issues fixed. Then epoxy primered. The 77 door was stepped into the panel. Raptor lined the back to around 1” from the seams that need panel bond and spot welds. Then I will raptor over that are once they are in. I’m almost back to 100% ford stamped steel!
