Duplicolor spray paint drips

I’m restoring some stock Steelies and sanded them bare, primed them with etching primer and then used duplicolor rattle can Wimbledon white. I swear I put on a coat so light that you could barely see the white on the gray primer, yet it dripped everywhere. I think the duplicolor paint is pretty bad. Anyone else have this experience? I bought two cans and tried the second can and it also performed poorly. The rims were warmed in the sun and I put the can in warm water to make sure it wasnt cold, yet the paint still looks terrible. I’m using SUPER LIGHT coats.

Is there a better paint that matches Wimbledon white? Krylon? Rustoleum or something else you guys like?thanks.

If you don’t mind ordering it, this place has the best aerosol cans that I have ever used. Lots of pressure, great pattern, goes on fast with no runs.... You can paint big panels with it easily. I like their touchup pens too.

Thanks.. their paint is high quality? How many cans do you think I’d need for 5 rims? Whole rim (front bank and sides)

It’s high quality stuff. I expect two cans would do them without any problem. Might get three just to be safe.

I've used these guys as well, good quality. Eastwood also makes top notch quality spray paint, but pricey....

Possible the etch primer and paint don’t play well together ,maybe try a sanding primer in between.just a thought...

Go to your local autobody paint supplier and have them mix up a spray can for you. I buy all my supplies and paint locally to support local businesses. They are all auto body painters so have lots of good tips. You need to stay with one brand for your primer and paint. Using different brands doesn't work so well most of the time only creates more work like you are experiencing.

I am pretty sure you have to use seurfce primer over the etching primer.

You have to use whatever topcoat the base or primer says it can use. If you use Duplicolor, you have to use something to take it off so you can put a better quality product on it.

I had the same problems with their Perfect Match spray paints (I think that's the name?) but especially with the Wimbledon White. The other two GM colors and one Ford color I used were very manageable once you knew to be overly cautious, on top of being overly cautious (I thought!) but the WW was a nightmare.
I did get it done to my satisfaction finally, but it wasn't cut-n-dry like most other paints I have used.

I would do the same. Specially right now. These times
