How far do I cut these springs off? I called James Duff on Thurs., they said they would call me back, but it's been two full business days and no reply yet. My Bronco has a 3.5" suspension lift and a 1" body lift, so these brake cables came with the Bronco from the PO. They were old new stock from when Duff was in WA, but still in the box, though, one of the cable stops is missing. Where do you buy just one cable stop?

When I got my Bronco, it had drums on it but nothing else, no rear brake parts of any kind. I have used Tom's and and WH to piece it back together, but damn there are a lot of pieces to these 10" drums. Ugh. So, I had no old spring to cut measure from to know how much to cut off the springs per Duff's instructions. Hmmm. Any one do this repair recently?

Where does the metal piece in picture go? The one that looks like it holds the two rear E Brake cables together and up on the frame? Almost a candidate for what is it thread.

I think all pictures are from driver's side, but I could be wrong.

The clip and bolt in Pic 2 holds the front cable and speedo cable, it mounts ontop of frame near the drivers side footwell body mount ..the spring in your pic looks like part of a cable assembly installed on the end at the brake shoes .re the cables fully assembled or are they in pieces?? Are your rear cables installed at the rear brakes yet if not Well your going to have to take the brakes apart to install...and yes everything comes together on the drivers side under the drivers seat platform. Just looked again so this is a universal cable set up..the cable stop look at the "HELP" section at the auto parts store,,, but I'd just get the lengthened cables from WH ,,

In pic number 4 where the springs are on the post with the cable ring. You are missing a piece, it looks like a washer with wings on each side. Not sure what its called.

Oops old pic, more recent shows the horned washer that is actually in place now. Are the springs supposed to be behind the washer and horned winged washer? ?:?

The cables are new, but it is disheartening to find out that the brakes have to be fully taken apart to put the E brake cable on. Ugh. Guess I better get the manual out. Really don't want to buy WH cables when these are brand new, I just have to assemble them, but I have no idea how long to cut down the springs as they go into the 10"drum. I have a feeling that it varies due to the drum diameter. %)

The clip & screw in your 2nd pic are shown in your last pic, at the bottom center.

All your pics of assembled brakes show NO GREASE on the mechanisms. That's why so may people have so many problems with drum brakes. This caption explains where & how to grease them:

Steve, thank you, you have always been a great help in the past, and I have absconded with a few of your pics from online for my build. Thanks so much for the links.

EBP72, Thanks for the length measurement. It probably is a inch shorter in a 10" drum, but I'm hoping someone else will chime in with the length of the spring in the 10"drum. Thanks for replying. I figure if I cut it too long, it will interfere with the E brake swing arm, so, but I definitely want as much spring as possible on the cable. I've looked in the manual and it does not say how long the springs are.
I wish Duff would call me back, been since last Thursday and not call back, guess it is time to call again.

I started a thread a few months ago that listed the oem application for some ebrake cables that will work great with lifted broncos. The cables are about $17 each from rockauto.

Billy, I don't think the vendors offer any different cables for a 10" vs an 11"?? There is a different offering based on years. I would be concerned about overall length of the cables with the lifts you have. JBG shows lengths on the extended cables.!! Good luck!!;D;D;D

Thanks for the link, I will look them over, though I think I will try to use what I have

Do you have a link to your thread?

I called Duff's yesterday, someone took the time to go and mesuer the spring they have for a 11" drum which is 5", (just like the previous post by a member earlier), so, I think my max size is 5.5", I'll cut it down, install, grease everything per Steve83, and see how it goes. Thanks everyone for all the comments

SO I checked out your thread. I ordered the parts and could not get two Dorman, so one was Wagner. I will tell you that the Wagner part was a bit higher in quality than the dorman, including the removable clip so you can try it in. The spring in the drum was a better length too from Wagner. Thanks for the info, it made a difference.
