Solid solution. Are you using a stock diameter front shaft or the later Explorer skinny?

Stock drive shaft. I wasn't aware of a explorer conversion. How is the clearance with the explorer drive shaft.

With the AOD swap you need to get new driveshafts to have the correct lengths for the driveline change, when you get them, just order a smaller diameter front shaft and the problem is solved and not over complicated.

X2. And if you pickup a 1st gen explorer front shaft it's already the smaller diameter and correct u-joints and will only need to be shortened/balanced.

I have a 4R70W with the explorer smaller diameter driveshaft. It mostly misses the pan, but seems to rub it ever so slightly under some conditions. Not enough that I have worried about it - seems to have just taken the paint off.
