Early style grill turn indicator light

I have a 77 and bought the early smaller turn signals for the front grill. Looks really good, but isn't functioning correctly. When the headlights are on the passenger side is coming on bright and the drivers dim. When I activate the turn signal, the passenger side goes solid with dim lighting and the drivers blinks correctly with a bright light. I tried running a ground to the passenger side and no change. Perhaps the light is wired incorrectly?

I got them from Toms, a much cleaner look compared to the bulky stock signals.

I bought a set of used lights to do this to my 76 and found out I had to cut the plug ends off, flip them and solder them back on. Not sure if they're all like this or it's a hit or miss type thing.

I had assorted problems develop when I did my 74. Added grounds to each one ....no more problems.

One bright and one dim - sounds like you have one of them wired incorrectly.

Mine were a pain as well. Had 1 that was wired wrong and one that was poorly assembled. I had to add a ground to the second set and they still aren't as bright as the originals. I haven't had time to dig into them as they work albeit dim and now my lights flash faster than before.

I had the same issue on the last 2 sets I bought. They are wired wrong. Should be dim with parking/headlights on, bright for turn signal. With the cover off, push the wires forward through the socket. Rotate 180 degrees then pull back in socket. Rotating the contacts should fix your issue.

Cut and reversed the wires on the bad light, everything works like it should now. They flash slower than before, opposite from BD99. Thanks everyone.
