Early vs late core supports?

Can anyone tell me why my core support has these 1inch metal tabs that move back into the engine bay? Are these for non V8 engines? Mine has a V8 in it… but core support looks unorthodox with these tabs compared to new ones online? I’m going to be installing a new radiator and shroud, and pretty sure I need to cut these off of core support as I install stock radiator brackets, but wanted to ask here before I cut off anything and do something stupid.

Looks like you have a 6 cylinder core support to me. And I can't tell for certain but it looks like you have a Mustang V8 radiator (or something similar).

So I need to cut those tabs off, right? As V8 stick radiator brackets attach to face of core support. And it did have a 6 cylinder in it originally.

Yes, I think you should cut those off.

Considering that they don't make reproduction 6-cyl core supports, I question if the better move would be to preserve it and install a new aftermarket one. There's likely not a huge demand for used 6-cyl core supports, but to the guy looking, it would be worth something.
