Easiest way to replace windshield seal?

I just took the glass out of my windshield frame in order to strip all the paint and have it repainted. I've bought a new glass seal for reinstallation after it's painted.

The question is: what is the easiest way to get the seal and glass back in? It was a pain in the butt to get the thing out and I ended up just demolishing the old seal in the process (didn't care, got a new one). But, of course, I don't want to demolish the new seal (or the new paint job) when I put it back in.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

;D ;D ;D Put the new seal on the glass and rap a pc. of strong string around it and start at the bottom set it in and then you pull the string and push on the glass and the string will open the seal and it just go's on. Its easer to say than do but that is how it is done have fun and good luck. Wont hurt the paint or seal.:p :p :p Bill  %) :p

clothesline string works very well. I also help it in with a solution of dishwashing soap (dawn). Keep screwdrivers, punches, awls and basically anything metal away from the edges. I have used a wide putty knife to help too.

I recommend that you trim the excess rubber on the corners of the seal, -the stuff thats left over from the mold. This helps achieve a better fit. I didn't trim my new seal the first time I installed it and the corners tended to curl up off the frame. I removed it, trimed the corners, and then corners stayed down better. Then I run a small bead of sealant.
