Not sure how it is where you live but in Arkansas, to scrap a car/truck, you have to have a title.

I got the 96 E350 van for my 351w swap the same way via a repair shop (fuel pump had went out) only there was a lien on the van so the owner stopped paying the bank and didn't pay the repair shop. The bank signed it over to the repair shop so they gave me the title when I bought it.

Make sure you get something that will allow you to scrap the parts you don't use or sell.

Good tip...it will come with lien sale papers. The towing company seems to do this regularly. I will ask them if there is any other liens on it and have them sign something to that effect.

Most scrappers in CO require a title as well.

Call some scrappers in your area and see if the paperwork they're giving you is enough.

Good price for one that runs and drives.

A quick [?] sometimes call to your states DMV should give you all the legal answers you need! Do it right!:cool::cool:

Well I bought it... Super pumped!!! Motor seems great, lots of power, idles smooth, and no funny noises. Will post a pic tomorrow.

Now the hard part begins. This is by far going to be the most involved job I have ever done. I am nervous and excited. I am an accountant desk job guy who really enjoys drinking beer in the garage working.

Well it sounds like a couple of cases worth of work or you could go the economy route & get a keg.

SC recyclers "are not allowed" to scrap a car without a clean title. But as already mentioned, if you cut it up enuff you can avoid the title thingy.

Your DMV will sort out the title thing. They may even issue you a temp title till it's all worked out. If they research it and find out legal problems expect a long and potentially costly battle. I wouldn't put much of any money in "your" explorer till your name is on a legit title from the DMV.
